Jack Manly Man of the Year 2009
Handsome & muscular adult performer Samuel Colt came into prominence in 2009 and made an instant and distinct impression on us and in the gay porn biz. Simply stated he has star quality--a combination of onscreen charisma, an intense masculinity, and a rough-around-the edges uninhibited performance style. In a year full of "it" guys Samuel Colt was the one who stood out the most to us and will probably be even bigger than his initial year of performing.
Samuel Colt had a busy and notable 2009 thanks to some key appearances and career moves. As a Mustang exclusive Samuel Colt was a big part of the re-emergence and re-branding of this Falcon line, having appeared in several Steve Cruz-Leif Gobo directed movies. In addition, he appeared on several online video sites, competed in bodybuilding, did modeling, and was one of the last sexy men to appear in Men Magazine before it folded in the fall. We've also had the privilege of meeting Samuel Colt and can tell you that he really is as sexy as he appears on camera--if not more so. He's also a very genuine & sincere man which was as much a factor in choosing him as our third annual Man Of The Year. We had the opportunity to interview him in conjunction with this honor and we're happy to bring it to you now:
Jack Manly: When did you make the decision to get into the biz to perform in gay porn? What is something you were interested in for awhile? Was there a pivotal moment or someone who convinced you that you should do it?
Samuel Colt: I decided to get in front of the camera around April 2009 and three days after that, I was booked in 4 scenes. Although it was something that was in the back of my mind, it was something I had only dabbled in before. It was probably a combination of my upcoming photo shoot for Men Magazine and a conversation I had with my good friend, the director Tony Dimarco that made me realize it was now or never... and Samuel Colt was born.
JM: What qualities in looks or performing style do you think you have that separates you from other porn stars? (we think we know as you can see above)
SC: I don't know if these things really separate me from others but I know that physically, I think I have a classic 'manly man' aesthetic without being too over the top and having a background in competitive bodybuilding has helped with the body... but I also love what I'm doing and the crew I work with! I'm not doing this to get rich or anything, I'm doing it because I enjoy it. Oh, I can’t forget the butt… everyone always has something to say about the butt!
JM: Who were your objects of lust when you first watched porn?
SC: I loved Tom Katt and the classic Colt/Buckshot stuff. All those men were so hot and sexy and masculine.
JM: Who were your influences, if any?
SC: I love a lot of the early Hot House stuff and adore Steven Scarborough. And I've always wanted to work with Tony Dimarco... two very different styles but both of them are genius at what they do.
JM: We agree with you on that completely! What about current guys in porn? Do you have any idols & influences?
SC: I really like Race Cooper and Alessio Romero... and I'm fortunate to call them friends.
JM: Which of these current crop of guys would you like to work with that you haven't?
SC: Hmmm... well a lot of them are exclusives with other studios so it probably won't be happening soon... but I'd love to do a scene with Bo Dean or Mitchell Rock or …
JM: Which do you think are your best scenes so far?
SC: Honestly, I haven't seen anything I've done. However, I feel the latest Mustang scene I've done for Adrenaline was pretty hot and creative. And my scene partner, Drake Jaden is super sexy! Probably the hottest scene I've done was for Massive with Tony Aziz and Nash Lawler. I remember the director was so turned on that he was forgetting to focus the camera on the action... I've had many opportunities to practice having hot sex with Tony Aziz, so we can do a pretty good scene.
JM: You seem very open to doing many different things on camera--anything you haven't done that you'd like to try?
SC: I'd love to do a group scene... and maybe a leather/kink movie (So, Steve Cruz and Leif Gobo, are you reading this?)
JM: You've got a big budget sex movie coming up (Demonic Sex). Are your preparing for this any differently than a standard porn flick?
SC: I'm supposed to be working with an acting coach early this year and (unfortunately) I have to shave my body for the actual filming so I'm certainly not looking forward to that!
JM: What other plans do you have for 2010 and beyond that you can talk about and want to share with your fans?
SC: Right now I'm developing something new for my blog and website... it will have a strong porn influence and audience but will not be porn so it should be interesting. Hopefully everything works out and I can
start releasing content early in 2010.
JM: By the way, how does it feel to have fans? Does it influence your performances at all?
SC: It is great having fans... it's not something you realize until you make appearances. When I did the Jimmy Z Bodybuilder Jam, I had people writing me as soon as it was announced saying they were flying to LA
just to see me perform. It was great to meet them in people too, after the show. I love signing autographs and taking pictures with fans!
JM: Where do you see your career going? Do you have plans to do producing or directing?
SC: I think it is too early to tell that... I mean I've only been doing this 9 months. Ask me again in 9 more months and we will see where we are at, but right now I really am enjoying performing.
JM: You've also done modeling & competition bodybuilding---are there other things outside of porn that you're interested in pursuing? Any outside interests you care to talk about?
SC: I've just started personal training again and I hope to compete this year if everything works out with my schedule. Other than that, anything that involves travel!
